UPDATE: SITE IS BACK ONLINE!

In the past I've gotten so generous donations and thanks for that.  Right now the site is suspended due to a technical error with the host as well as problems with bandwidth on top of the hosting bill.  So here is a donation button I'm in need of just 35 for this month.  In the next few weeks I'm going to have to look into putting some ads on the site to just help out the site financially.

I've made a small donation for now until the money I've transferred into my PayPal accoutn clears. I hope it's enough to help out and I've also been instructed by a friend to let her have details too.

I hope the technical errors and bandwidth problems get sorted soon and if it means having ads or losing what msgenevieve so aptly referred to as the Fandom's Fanfic History they're a small price to pay. I will continue to donate as much as I can, when I can, even though I'm living on a limited income due to early retirement from work. :)

Thank you, sweetheart.
*hugs*

Thanks for posting the Paypal button - that makes it much easier for people to donate to the cause. And you've probably already thought of this, but it might be a good idea if you let us know when we've reached the amount you need to get the site up and running again. *g*

Good luck!

ELIZABETH, ARE YOU THERE?
tuesdaeschild has very kindly posted about pbfic.net and the danger of losing it on her LJ, but maybe you could also make a post on your own LJ as the site owner? The more people who know about it, the better.

And this is just me, but if you need people to donate money to save it, I think that the more upfront and clear you can be about how much money is needed to keep the site running each month etc, the better. If you keep people in the loop, it's much easier for them to help! :)

Re: ELIZABETH, ARE YOU THERE?
Is it just that money needs to be donated? I'm not friends with tuesdaeschild and I can't see the entry, so I don't know what exactly is going on. I'm super new to the fandom, so I don't really know anybody and I've just been lurking around to see if I could find out anything about what happened to the site.

Re: ELIZABETH, ARE YOU THERE?
Hello there, nice to meet you.

All tuesdaeschild posted was that we were in danger of losing the site permanently if it wasn't brought back to life (and yeah, it's about paying the monthly hosting fee/bandwidth etc), but she was just passing on that message from elizabethb. So hence my nagging (lovingly so, lol!) here for elizabethb to let us know what she needs so we can organise it.

Oh, and welcome to the fandom! :)

Re: ELIZABETH, ARE YOU THERE?
Hello and thank you! :)

I'm definitely willing to donate a little money to help keep it open. My spring break last week was so boring with the site down, LOL.

Re: ELIZABETH, ARE YOU THERE?
Hey Genevieve,

Felling kinda nostalgic about this. Do you know if Elizabeth is planning on keeping the website up? If not, I'll take it out of her hands. I love all those stories and I there's this aching feeling that they will never see the light of day ever again. If by chance you know that this is her active email address (barrett.k@live.com), please let me know.

Thanks!

- Maybelle

Re: ELIZABETH, ARE YOU THERE?
Hi Maybelle - you'll have to ask Elizabeth about her plans for the webiste - I have no idea. It has been gone for several months now, despite many rounds of people chipping in to keep it up and running over the last few years. I personally am mourning the loss of months of my hard work and wonderful comments from my readers.

Re: ELIZABETH, ARE YOU THERE?
Thanks for responding. I am not sure how to get a hold of her. Is this her personal email address (barrett.k@live.com)? I am willing to keep the site up and maintain it but she needs to endorse the ownership. Its so sad to see all those stories gone :(

Pbfic.net is so special to me, and I've met so many wonderful people on that site over the years, I'd hate to see it go, so I will donate as much as I can as frequently as I can :) i wasn't able before because I didn't have a credit card but now i do!

How much do you need to get the site back up, sweetheart? I'll chip in as much as I can but if there's no ads to help out I don't think I can afford to keep donating indefinitely.
Elizabeth @ LiveJournalelizabethb on August 16th, 2011 04:14 am (UTC)
I got a new donor to donate 30 so I only needed 10 and the sites back up now.

Hi Elizabeth,

That's a very generous donor. :)

I see the site's back up afain and I will donate some more money once it clears my PayPal account in a few days. Meantime if you ever want to pass the site on to anyone else (and it's even possible, of course) I'd be prepared to step in.

Thanks for letting me know what's happening. The more I know the more I hope I can help.

Take care

Marilyn
