10th-Nov-2009 08:43 am - How do get this effect?
Anyone have any recommendations on how I can go about doing something like this? I know that I could just put the text down in the specific areas that I needed, but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a less time-consuming way? :]

10th-Nov-2009 06:53 am - Good morning, earthlings
So, I go back to work today. This is sort of exciting. Thanks to my roommates being nocturnal and banging around at god-awful hours and my body being made of fail when it comes to sleep, I've been up since 0600 and I don't have to be at work until 0730.

On the upside, something I've been dreading turned out to be something I'm not going to have to do, so yeah! \o/

Tannim found part time work fitting people for back braces. This is also made of glee.

Could someone please make some high quality caps of Wild America? Or pinpoint me to some good caps? I looked at one community, but the caps where not their anymore...
9th-Nov-2009 10:23 pm - OK! Magazine
I grabbed next week's (November 16th) issue off the stands tonight because TSwift was on the cover, and I after her story, i flipped open TV's Cutest Kids, and Jackson Brundage 'won' Silliest Sweetie! I don't have scans, but there's a picture of Jamie holding Chester and one of Nathan sitting on a curb with Jamie walking around in his ravens getup and cape, so cute! Check it out!
9th-Nov-2009 11:58 pm - Update from the hole
Came up from the basement Sunday night after 4 days in the hole of isolation. Far from all well I felt a good deal better and figure at the very least I was past contagious.
Road to recovery?

Oh so confident I completely was shocked when Doc said "Still over 100 fever... back to the hole for 48 more hrs!" at my follow appt today. SHIT!!

This flu holds on like a bitch :o(
Back to the basement I have unexpected company this time as Ry (Its always RY) spiked a fever tonight too. Shit, SHIT!!
At least we're getting this over with before Ally arrives on Fri.

In other non FLU news...

~Not writing anything at all for nearly a year now I was completely shocked to get a letter about a fan fic award nomination for True Blood fic. Surprising but very cool

Hope you are all healthy
9th-Nov-2009 10:54 pm - The Revolution
I'm about two-thirds through Ron Paul's book The Revolution: A Manifesto and wondered if anyone else had read it. And if so, what are your thoughts / opinions?

As I'm reading it, I find myself wishing more Americans had read this book. I don't agree with a hundred percent of it, but most of it is refreshing, straight-forward common sense. Especially with regard to Constitution. It's making consider some things that I hadn't thought of before, things that I hadn't thought to question because they are simply a given part of the world I grew up in. And it is making me understand a little better why a few of my friends decided on write-in votes for him last year.

Sophia Bush talks about how Wilmington, ‘OTH’ have evolved

After seven years playing fashionista Brooke Davis on the locally filmed TV series “One Tree Hill,” Sophia Bush has become a fixture in the Wilmington area. She can often be spotted hanging with friends in downtown restaurants and clubs, or putting her celebrity to good use at area fundraisers.

“I think people have lost sight of how important it is to give back,” Bush said recently at a fundraiser for the Wilmington Police Recreation Association Officer Down Memorial Wall.

Bush, 27, said her parents always encouraged charity work when she was growing up, and she wants to pass that encouragement on to other young people.

And she certainly can count a lot of young people among her fans. Strong support by young women is the biggest reason “One Tree Hill” has stayed on the air so long. We recently caught up with Bush, who will step behind the camera to direct the Nov. 9 episode, to reflect on seven years of “One Tree Hill.”

Q: So you’ve been in Wilmington seven years now …

A: It’s really my home away from home at this point. Everybody knows my coffee order or what glass of wine I’m going to have before I’ve even sat down. You become part of a larger family living there that long, and it’s been a joy. Those of us who are out there now are incredibly tight.

EXCLUSIVE: Lee Norris Gets Mouthy for One Tree Hill

I was curious how you first heard about this character Mouth and what was your first reaction about this character?

Lee Norris: I was actually a student in college when I got the call to audition for Mouth. I was really interested in it because he was really interested in sports and I wanted to be a sports announcer. I went to an ACC school, Wake Forest, I'm a big college basketball fan and it was just a natural interest for me. In fact, I wore my basketball t-shirt into the audition and kind of talked junk with our executive producer Mark Schwahn, who went to Maryland. It was sort of a cool way to try out for the part and, obviously, the part grew and it was nice to become more complex as the show has gone on.

My site is alive *woot* Finally managed to set up the domain and all that jazz. It still has a lot of bugs and I need to update my portfolio page but I'll get to it soon. I just needed it up for networking purposes this Wednesday. Tehehe. And now I am off to eat dinner and perhaps read entries after I'm done. Hope everyone had a fabulous day.

9th-Nov-2009 04:06 pm - 20 Years of The Fall Of The Wall
The Berlin Wall, the symbol of the Cold War and Soviet domination of Central/Eastern Europe, starting coming down this week 20 years ago. Having been born into a world where there was East Germany and West Germany, East Berlin and West Berlin, it was astonishing to see. I was in college at the time and it vindicated everything President Reagan, Lady Thatcher, Pope John Paul II, etc. were trying to do that entire decade. And it blew the Yay, Global Socialism dreams of my professors out of the water, heh heh. Germany would be reunified a year later, Czechoslovakia would amically split into two countries, and the Soviet Union itself would collapse in less than two years.

Those on the left tend to ignore Reagan's leadership and overpraise Mikhail Gorbachev's "contribution." Gorby's contribution was trying too late to save a crashing plane. He knew the bottom was about to fall out of Soviet Communism and that whole glasnost/perestroika thing or trying to negotiate with the West were his last ditch attempts to save it. Reagan outmaneuvered him over SDI and outspent the Soviets on defense. That was the beginning of the end.

Unfortunately, while the Russkies are lovin' that capitalism, we failed to tear down the Berlin Wall in our own country. The threat to freedom we face today doesn't come from Vladimir Putin, it comes from our own Congress and our own President. I never thought I'd live to see the day where Pravda sounds less like government propaganda than ABC News. Melanie Phillips wrote this piece for the Daily Mail that nails it as far as I'm concerned:
